{"id":70,"date":"2009-02-23T16:21:08","date_gmt":"2009-02-23T22:21:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cheatingbulldogs.com\/?p=70"},"modified":"2009-02-23T16:21:08","modified_gmt":"2009-02-23T22:21:08","slug":"you-know-heath-was-great-and-all-but","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cheatingbulldogs.com\/?p=70","title":{"rendered":"You know, Heath was great and all but&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;\">If I have to hear one more newscast or oscar synopsis about how he \u201cturned a comic book character into a psychopathic monster\u201d (and other comments about how he apparently singlehandedly came up with his performance) I\u2019m going to cry. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;\">I\u2019m sorry Mr. or Ms. copywriter or reporter or whatnot that your only experience with the Joker character appears to be from Adam West\u2019s camp-o-rama batstravaganza but perhaps you should do some research. Without even diving into the books we can look at Nicholson\u2019s performance\u2026 a very different Joker but with a similar psychotic malevolence. Jack and Heath are doing the same character\u2026 albeit as shaded by the very different Gotham\u2019s imagined by Tim Burton and Chris Nolan. (For the record I enjoyed TDK but I despised Batman Begins, but that\u2019s a whole other argument)<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;\">If we dive into the books we can find many instances of an even crueler and vicious Joker. I see Ledger\u2019s character as having a slight glimmer of self control left, almost invisible\u2026 many of the books have the Joker fast past that point.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;\">I\u2019m glad he won his Oscar as it was a great performance for a fairly good movie that a ton of people saw. Hopefully a few of the people that tuned in to the Oscars to see that moment also saw a few other movies that tempted them.
